Welcome to our May 2008 Newsletter. As a previous customer and/or inquirer of our service, you will be provided with fun and useful information regarding history, piece identification, silversmiths, china manufacturers, and more. You will be alerted to our monthly "specials" for special occasion gifts and replacement. This month we will tell you about: |
| 18/10 and 18/8 Stainless Flatware | |
| Stainless steel flatware is referred to as 18/10 or
18/8. These numbers refer to the percentage of chromium and
nickel in the stainless steel alloy. "18" is the
chromium content; it gives flatware its strength. "10"
or "8" is the nickel content; it gives flatware shine and
rust resistance. There is almost no difference between 18/10 and
18/8 stainless. These numbers do not refer to weight; weight is
determined by the style and design of the pattern. STAINLESS SPECIAL ...Click to view !!.... "Carouselle" by Yamazaki Link to our "sterling" page...www.rmsterling.com/sterling.html Link to our "silverplate" page...www.rmsterling.com/silverplate.html |

| Royal Doulton | |
| It all began with John Doulton in 1815 who invested
in a small pottery in London producing stoneware. In 1877 a
factory in Stoke-on-Trent was acquired and later began producing bone
china. Kind Edward VII authorized Doulton to use the word
"Royal" to describe their ware in 1901. Royal Doulton
acquired Minton China in 1968; however Royal Doulton was acquired by
Pearson in 1972 and merged it with Allied English Potteries which also
brought Royal Crown Derby, Royal Albert and Lawleys into the
merger. This merger produced one of the world's largest
manufacturers of fine bone china. CHINA SPECIAL ...Click to view !!...."Angelique" by Royal Doulton Link to our "china" page...www.rmsterling.com/china.html |
